The Truest And Most Beautiful Life I Can Imagine — An Untamed Exercise
The first time that I came across the author Glennon Doyle, my perspective on life changed. She was doing an interview with Marie Forleo on Marie TV/The Marie Forleo Podcast.
Glennon was talking about her new best-selling book called “Untamed”, which is all about letting go of our conditioned thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours, and rediscovering our wild and true selves.
Since my initial introduction, I have listened to more interviews with Glennon Doyle and even started listening to her book on Audible. She keeps repeating the idea of finding what is the truest and most beautiful story/life that you imagine for yourself.
She instructs that you, as the reader/listener, write out what you believe is the truest and most beautiful story/life that you imagine for yourself. You can apply this to individual aspects of your life.
What is the truest and most beautiful marriage you envision? What is the truest and most beautiful career you imagine?
As Glennon puts it in the book: “These are our marching orders”. Once you have written out what is true and beautiful for you, you can use it as a guide for how you want to move forward.
So, what is the truest and most beautiful life that I imagine for me?
Well, it is definitely a life where I can eat healthy dessert every day. The truest and most beautiful life that I imagine for myself is a life where I am as free as possible. I can work for myself and do work that I love.
I can embrace my love of health, food, baking, writing, and travel. My husband and I have an exceptional marriage, we travel the world together, and we work together teaching people about health and wellness.
We have enough money to follow our dreams and to build our ideal self-sustainable home, and any excess money that we do have, we can use to try and make the world a healthier place and to help people.
My husband Jonathan and I already have our own podcast called “The Hart of Health”, and we want to continue doing it and hopefully reach and inspire as many people as possible.
In the truest and most beautiful life that I imagine for myself, my health will improve enough in the next year that I can have a baby and we can start a family.
In the truest and most beautiful life that I imagine for myself, I am standing in my beautiful kitchen that looks like it belongs on a cooking show. In fact, it is where I film my healthy cooking shows, including The Dessert Diet Club Cooking Show.
The truest and most beautiful life that I imagine for myself is one where I write every day. Sometimes I have to pinch myself because the fact that I am already working as a writer and copy editor feels surreal. The fact that I am married to the man of my dreams feels surreal, and even the fact that my hair is long enough to pass my belly button feels surreal.
Oh yes. In the truest and most beautiful life that I can imagine for myself, I look like a mermaid with long and beautiful hair.
What is the truest and most beautiful life that you imagine for yourself?
You do not have to publish your vision to the world like I am now but I highly recommend that you try this exercise and that you get Glennon Doyle’s book.
Is it time for you to become true to yourself and to become Untamed?
